Supporting Healthier Communties for all

Turning Point Society of Central Alberta is a registered charity, and was originally founded in 1988 as the Central Alberta Aids Network Society (CAANS). Today we are still engaged in that cause and are committed to fostering safer and healthier communities through low barrier access to Health Promotion & Risk Reduction services, Outreach, and other programming. We use evidence based practice and a person centred approach to provide services to our clients and partners across Central Alberta. Turning Point serves any and all, specializing in working with marginalized populations including those experiencing or at risk of poverty & homelessness, those experiencing substance use or dependency, people engaged in sex work, Indigenous and other cultural groups & communities, those who identify on the LGBTQ2S+ spectrum, and anyone else who needs access to services or to people who genuinely care. We provide a welcoming, non-judgemental presence and believe in respect and dignity for all. We have continuously adapted our services to our community's needs, often acting as service gap fillers and providing a safety net to vulnerable community members and those with limited access to traditional health and social service pathways. We are honored to do this work and are grateful for oppportunities to support our community
